Extreme geocaching

With almost 450,000 caches worldwide you can be assured that a lot of caches have been placed on very special locations. However, finding and logging of these caches will require qualities that only a few cachers have.

On this page you can find a collection of extreme geocaches that I have collected over time. Have fun.

as far South as you can get

GCHN13 - No further south from here is a virtual cache placed a the pole marking the South Pole. So this is indeed that most southern placed cache as you can go only fo north from here.
Only a few have had the privilige to log this cache. Besides the rather chilly environment it will be a challenge for your GPS device to handle these extreme coordinates or whether a software error will emerge.

The most northern placed cache

GC5803 - As North as it gets is a traditional cache en is currently the most northern placed cache.

Oxygen required

GCP7JV - Chomolangma is a traditional cache place at an altitude of 7,570 meters and is therefore the highest place cache in the world. Both cache and terrain have the full 5 stars for difficulty.
Read the story of Team VaxCave who wanted to score a FTF but when the cache was found discovered they forgot to bring a pen and the pen stored in the cache was frozen. The cache is still waiting for a FTF!

Medical kit recommended

GCX397 - Saddam's Hand is a traditional cache in the centre of Bagdad. No wonder only heavily armed US soldiers are able to log this cache.

After 6 years still waiting for a find

GC7D19 - Tiger Leaping Cache is a traditional cache in China's remote western part of the country. Being put there by fellow Dutchmen, this cache is still waiting for its first find. Why are you waiting?

In the middle of nowhere

GCB357 - Easter Island cache is one of four caches on Easter Island. It far from civilazation. The nearest (uninhabited) island is at 1000 miles.

Tired of life?

GCHVV2 - Deathwish? is a cache where you have the approach the cache by walking on the small edge of a bridge. Look at this picture.
